The European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) launched a new global Initiative to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls on 20 September 2017 at the margin of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly. The initiative is in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a particular focus on women's rights and empowerment.
