Sie umfasst alle Formen von geschlechtsspezfischer Gewalt gegen Frauen und ermöglicht die internationale Anhebung der Standards im Bereich Gewalt gegen Frauen. Außerdem sind die Mitgliedstaaten aufgefordert, die Verpflichtungen hinsichtlich häuslicher Gewalt auch auf Männer und Kinder anzuwenden.
