This article explores the challenges encountered by Black women in the United States. The author aims to shed light on the violence experienced by Black women and notes that violence is often not always evident to the general public for four reasons; violence transpires behind closed doors, not in public; these occurrences of violence are often connected to topics of sex, sexuality, and intimacy; the intensity of violence does not increase in both the public and counter-public spheres and most notably, activists have not been successful in developing compelling narratives about violence.
