Kosovo’s Legislation Mixed with Patriarchy: Victimizing Sexual Gender-Based Violence Survivors

Executive Summary

The article delves into uncovering the socio-political issues of gender-based violence that have been deeply entrenched within the culture of its community. The society is highly characterized by encouraging the traditional culture which assumes a patriarchal and religious conservatism viewpoint. This being historically rooted, soon leads to the issues that exist surrounding Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV). The structure and processes of the legal system in Kosovo highlight a vicitimization of the survivors, and even the World Health Organization (WHO) has motioned that there need to be changes within the weak legislation and the patriarchal attitudes that exist.
