Karen Ingala Smith, PhD, is Chief Executive of nia, an East London charity providing services for women, girls, and children who have been subjected sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including prostitution. She is a co-founder and Director of the Femicide Census. She has also been recording and commemorating UK women killed by men since 2012 in a campaign called Counting Dead Women. Karen holds a PhD in sociology looking at men’s fatal violence against women from the University of Durham. She is a trustee for the Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize and a director in Woman’s Place UK and the Femicide Census.
