Executive Summary

This research examines violence against women in Kenya, focusing on policies, legislation and institutional structures. It explores contributing factors, legal gaps, and current interventions addressing gender-based violence. By critically assessing these gaps in policies and social structures, the report highlights key areas for reform. Recommendations emphasize aligning with international human rights instruments on violence against women, strenghtening constitutional protections, amending the Penal Code, and improving general law reform and policies. Addressing these issues is essential for enhancing the legal frameworks, institutional responses, along with the support systems for survivors. This report highlights the urgent need for enforcing measures to combat gender-based violence effectively in Kenya.
